MRO Rookie Minitwins
Gene Goodrum #679
Gene first lined up on the start gate in 1999, racing with raw passion, determination, and a love for competition. Between 1999 and 2003 he built his foundations in racecraft, track awareness, and the discipline that comes with pushing yourself to be better every weekend.
In 2003, Gene stepped away from racing to focus on family life—something he’s always been proud of. But the fire never really went out. Twenty‑three years later, that spark has become impossible to ignore, and 2026 marks his return to the sport he’s always loved.
Coming back as a rookie again, Gene approaches racing with a mix of experience, humility, and hunger. He’s rebuilding race craft from the ground up, relearning the rhythm of competition, and embracing the challenge of starting over. His background in technical, analytical work shapes his approach: structured training and a mindset built on progression rather than shortcuts.
This season is about rediscovery—finding speed, rebuilding confidence, and proving that passion doesn’t fade with time. Gene rides with gratitude for the journey, respect for the sport, and a determination to show that a comeback can be just as powerful as a first chapter.

At 47 years old, the opportunity came for my son and me to race. I've had a passion for motorbikes since I was young & having ridden on the road for many years, I thought it's now or never with the added excitement of supporting my son on his race journey, too. I decided to enter the MRO Minitwins. Having passed my ACU at the start of April & my first race at Brands Hatch being only a week later, it all came around very quickly & became very real. Personally, one thing I feel is that no amount of road riding can prepare you to race; the only exceptions are the great guys I have around me & a super supportive race organisation, Bemsee & family. Our race team, Delta T Racing, is composed of members who all stem from the refrigeration/cooling industry. Thank you to our sponsors for providing us with this amazing opportunity.

I have been a motorcyclist since the age of 16. After a season of road racing in 1991, I completed 4 seasons of track days, riding at all of the major UK circuits as well as Le Mans in France and the Portim?o circuit in Portugal. After a 35-year layoff, I am returning to short-circuit competition. My ambition is to take part in an endurance race or even to ride the TT circuit.

My first opportunity to ride a motorbike was at 16 when learning to ride on the road having had no previous experience.
I have always been inspired by motorsports rather than traditional sport.
Having just turned 17 I was given the chance to race and I soon realised I had found my passion. Stepping from 125cc road riding to CB500 racing has given me the biggest learning curve I could have asked for.
With little experience I have entered the Bemsee Thunderbike 500 series to build racecraft in British competitive racing.
This dream to race has been made possible with thanks to my Dad and Delta T Racing.
My plan is to have a progressive season and to see where racing takes me next.
